Day 2 – April 5, 2017 The beginning of it all.

Hi! I am probably just like you searching the internet for the best way to lose weight once and for all.  I have googled countless diets and read some of the more recent popular books but still couldn’t find anything that worked for me.  I wanted something I could actually stick to and reach my goals.  I also wanted to make sure that what I’m doing is safe and healthy.  Then I remembered what actually worked for me in 2014 and that was….drum roll please…smoothies!!! Yes, I lost 50 pounds in 3 months doing a main diet of smoothies! Then I got married. LOL. Anyways, 3 years later and one baby and I’m in the place where I need to lose again.  So here I go!  This time I need to lose 100 pounds.  Join me on my journey …I’m sure there will be ups and downs and many, many questions along the way!

Oh yeah and I am a weighin junkie.  I don’t know how people wait to see what’s going on one day a week.  I can’t handle that so …yesterday I was 292 and today I am 287.  I didn’t believe it so I stepped on the scale 3x like I always do.  Gotta make sure I was standing with both feet on the ground LOL.



Day 81 – June 23, 2017 Lost another pound!

Yay!!! I’m getting closer to the 40’s. Today I weighed 252lbs which means I have now lost 40 pounds!!! I really need to lose another 87lbs to reach my ultimate goal weight. When I started this I had a goal to lose 100lbs but in reality I needed to lose a total of 127lbs. Man that’s alot of weight! I have to do this. I know that weight causes way to many issues that I can’t afford and food is really only good for the time that you’re eating it. I need to live a healthy long life so this is the only choice I have and it’s working. Thankful for smoothies today. 🙂

Day 80 – June 22, 2017 I don’t feel like blogging today but..

here I am. It’s pouring rain outside right now, and they said we weren’t supposed to get any rain until Friday so much for that! When it rains I’m pretty much grounded. I don’t think I’ve ever shared this but we have a God given van that just won’t stop running however, if “Bob” sits in the rain to long he won’t start. We have to actually cover the van every single time it rains so that we’ll have a van after the rain stops. A pain it is, but for now that’s all we have and if you saw it, you’d say what a piece of junk! I don’t look at it that way because I know where that van has been and where it has taken us. I’m thankful for it but prayerfully one day soon we’ll have a new ride!

Pineapple/Banana Smoothie

1/2 banana frozen

1/2 cup frozen pineapple


1 cup of almond milk

a dash of vanilla extract

1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (optional)

Day 79 – June 21, 2017 Support can make or break you!

First, I must thank my husband for graciously helping me take the above pic LOL. That is his hand right there, which leads me to share how amazing it is to have someone support you in whatever it is that you are doing. He is my backbone. He encourages me to keep going and supports my “sippintoskinny” stuff. He bought me a Pioneer Woman’s smoothie cup for pics, and is there to answer any questions I have about doing this blog or in my quest to build my website. I thank you dear hubby, even if you never read this..I’ve publicly thanked you LOL. There have been many times over the past few months that he has thought of me when choosing his snack foods. He knows I can’t handle certain foods so he doesn’t bring them in the house. For that I am grateful.

Today, I just want to say Thank you! Thank you to those who come and read my page and support me by ‘liking’ it and commenting. Ya’ll make the difference and encourage me more than you’ll ever know. Thank you!

Day 78 – June 20, 2017 Numbers update and a chocolate, cherry smoothie!

Yay! I saw movement on the scale this morning so I just had to share! Here’s an update on the numbers: I’ve lost 39lbs as of today, in 11 weeks. I now weigh 253lbs! Started out at 292lbs but the largest I’ve been is 303lbs. Also, I’m starting to get in lower pants sizes I think, because I tried on a pair of size 18 pants that I had shoved wayyyyy back in the closet LOL and they almost fit. I wear yoga pants or sweats all the time so I really have no clue what my actual size is. The last time I knew what size I was, I was a 24-26 on the bottom. Which I think is a 3x. On the top I used to be a 4x and when you’re that big shopping starts to get ugly. Wait a sec, I bought t-shirts back before I started this and they were a 5x from Walmart but that brand fits small. I still wear all the same t-shirts. They are just a bit bigger. Now for the smoothie I made last night…

That smoothie up there is a chocolate, cherry smoothie and man did it ever taste like chocolate milk!!! I couldn’t believe it! I’m making it again for dinner tonight, it was that good. Here’s the recipe: 1 cup of vanilla almond milk, 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup of frozen dark sweet cherries, 1/2 frozen banana, 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder (I think chocolate would probably taste better), 1 tblspn of cocoa and stevia!! Day 77 – June 19, 2017 Monday morning rave or rant?

How bout rave?! I’m not feeling all that well because my “friend” has arrived..LOL but I’m looking forward to reaching a very big milestone in another week!!! I was thinking about it this morning. In one week I’ll have been doing my smoothie only diet for 3 months!!! Can you believe it?! I’m not dead, starving or sick. I am not bogged down by food or the rollercoaster of making good choices. Choosing to drink a smoothie packed full of fruits, seeds and protein is easy for me so I don’t struggle with making the ‘wrong’ choice. Now, I have seen smoothies out there that have cookies in them which is just stupid. I can’t find another word for it. Why on earth would you want to do that? I’m excited, happy and sooooo glad that I have a solution that works for me. I will be a foodie again one day but as for now I’m “sippintoskinny”!!

Day 76 – June 18, 2017 Pumpkin Pie Smoothie!!

I went to the store today and bought pumpkin pie and apple pie spices to try out in some smoothies! The picture above is a pumpkin pie smoothie that I just made for lunch. It has 1/2 banana, 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder, dash of vanilla extract, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice, 1/4 cup of oats (I ground them up first), 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk and 1/2 water. I would say that over all is was pretty good. It was filling but not as much pumpkin taste as I would like. I think next time I would try a little more pumpkin pie spice. It was yummy and I would make it again! I didn’t step on the scale as I know it’s going to be that “time” again this month within the next few days so my weight doesn’t move much. Oh I forgot to share yesterday that my husband’s boss actually noticed that I lost some weight! That’s exciting to know that someone else can see the weight loss! Day 75 – June 17, 2017 Going to an event and not eating hmm

So today my husband’s company had a bbq on a farm for all the employees and their families, you know what that means right? A bunch of foodies surrounding me the “Sippin to Skinny” smoothie drinker. LOL. I’m very happy and proud to say that I made it through the entire event with ease, Praise God!!!! While my family pigged out on hotdogs, burgers and ice cream I pigged out on a large green tea tango, compliments of Smoothie King. That is a treat for me and because I was so full it didn’t bother me in the least! We had picked it up on the way and put it on ice until I was ready for it. It worked out great, it was still nice and cold! There are ways to work through these type of events that come up in life and you just have to have a plan beforehand and you too well get through!

Day 74 – June 16, 2017 The “C” Word.

Carrageenan. You can find it in almond milk and apparently in toothpaste?!!!! Who knew? I sure didn’t! The first time I heard about carrageenan was a long time ago. I can’t remember who told me about it but I remember them saying make sure it’s not in your almond milk. If we have knowledge we have the ability to make better choices and that’s what I’m talking about. I chose to drink almond milk because it is lower in calories provides a creamy base to my smoothies and is much healthier than traditional milk. Can you imagine drinking a glass of milk 4x a day?! You’d be packing on the weight and I’ve heard that milk is really not all it’s cracked up to be. There’s a lot of debate on whether or not carrageenan is cancer causing. I think as with most things this comes down to a personal choice. I chose to drink almond milk that doesn’t have carrageenan in it and although I’m not swallowing toothpaste I will be on the lookout for it and chose toothpaste that doesn’t have it in it. Here’s a great link harmful or harmless carrageenan so you can make the decision on your own.

Day 73 – June 15, 2017 Won’t give up but food is driving me crazy LOL.

I am getting everything I need and am feeling quite well but some foods are driving me nuts! I was drooling all over that pork I made the other night and all I think about is Mexican food. I could never live with salsa and tortilla chips. What on earth is that all about anyways. Why can’t they make these foods low calorie and healthy? Thank the good Lord I can’t eat. Alot of people are driven by emotions to eat or overeat and I can say I’m guilty of it! All of the temptations or cravings, whatever you want to call them will go away if you can just hang in there. I like to find other substitutions for everything like pizza. You can make it healthier by making a cauliflower crust! I haven’t tried it but I will once I am off of my smoothie diet. 🙂 Now here’s a weird thing, my sense of smell has gone in high gear. I accused my husband of having a hotdog the other night and he was like “What no, why do you say that?” I said, “Your breath smells smokey!” He started laughing and said, “Well I had barbeque sauce..” I said “That’s it!” Now let’s stop and think about that for a minute… how weird is it to have an increased sniffer?? I find it weird, maybe it’s because I’m not eating. Strange phenomenon.

Day 72 – June 14, 2017 Smoothies and Smell.

Well it’s Wednesday and it’s another scorcher outside today. I didn’t weigh myself and am quite tired this morning. I had to get up at 5:45 and I’m usually not up until 6:00 that 15 mins hurt LOL. Not sure what I’m going to do today. Ever have a list of things to do and you just don’t feel like doing any of them?? I’m having one of those days. Usually it’s the opposite. I have this long list and keep running until I get most of it done! I gotta tell you yesterday I made this pork loin roast in the slow cooker and it drove me nuts all day!! It smelled so good and I just wanted to drink the juice LOL but I didn’t. Then we had stupid flies getting in the house somehow and I have no idea how. Thankfully I have a fly zapper so we just kept zapping! I don’t see any this morning and can’t figure out where they even came from. I think my oldest son was standing with the backdoor open he always does and they smelled my food and came running LOL. I must go and make my morning smoothie, my coffee cup is empty and I need my smoothie, NOW!
